GEORGIOUPOLIS SAFARI

Εnjoy the peace and quiet of the “White Mountains”!

Tour Overview

The day starts with a visit to an archeological site where you will enjoy a coffee under an ancient 2000-year-old plane tree. You will visit a traditional village with a Byzantine church, where you will taste locally brewed Greek coffee and Cretan products such as herbs, raki, honey and oregano.

Then, you will climb to an altitude of 1,200 meters, where, hopefully vultures will impress you with their imposing appearance. You will, however, enjoy the peace and quiet of the ‘’White Mountains’’, commonly known as Madares. This area is ideal for learning more about Cretan culture and enjoying traditional music and dances.

After a few hours, you will visit a very old castle with a mysterious myth. Then you will be taken to the beach to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the South Cretan Sea, followed by lunch in a family tavern with delicious traditional dishes.

Lastly, you will learn how wine, raki, ouzo, raki with honey and olive oil are made in Crete, including ways to distinguish grades of olive oil.
